Zakaria Bakkali was the centre of attention in Abegondo this morning.

The Deportivista forward, who has been a regular for Cristóbal Parralo during the last two fixtures, stated, “I’m very happy. Everybody likes playing and the team’s playing well.”

Asked about the changes since Cristóbal’s arrival, Bakkali replied, “The team has always been very united both with Pepe Mel and with Cristóbal”.

He highlighted that the new Deportivista coach wants him to attack 1v1, and confessed that he was not obsessed about not having scored: “Calmly; as soon as the first goal goes in, the second and the third will come. You have to be patient.”

Bakkali believes Dépor’s squad “can be amongst the top ten. We have good players. There are injured players that are coming back now and will improve the team.”

He admitted that on a personal level “I have a lot to improve, but calmly and patient I’ll get there.”

“We’ll see as time and matches go by,” he added.

On loan this season from Valencia CF, the Belgian left-winger pointed out that “I’m very happy here. I get along very well with my teammates and coaches. At the end of the season we’ll see whether I stay here or not.”

Regarding Málaga’s match, corresponding to the 12th fixture of LaLiga Santander, on Sunday 19 November (12 pm, Bein LaLiga), the Belgian International stated that “I look at each match as if it were a final we have to win, no matter if it’s Málaga or Atlético. I always want to give my all”.
