Zakaria Bakkali (Liège, Belgium, 26 January 1996) passed his medical examination in A Coruña’s HM Modelo Hospital this morning. He is now a 2017-2018 Deportivo player, on loan from Valencia CF.

The international Belgian player tried to speak in Spanish to the press and said “I’m very happy to be here, in this team, in this great team. The fans are really good, everything is really good”.

He stressed that when Dépor’s offer came, he knew it would be his first option: “I like this team a lot. I am very happy”. He explained why: “Because of its history, its coach, I like the team”, he replied.

In fact, he informed the press that he had “four or five options before Dépor. I like the Club”, that “Fede Cartabia has spoken marvellously of”.

Despite international commitments with Belgium in the horizon, especially with the World Cup coming up, Bakkali was to the point: “First my team. Then my national side”.

He promised Deportivistas “assists and goals”. He describes himself as a footballer that “likes playing one on one. I’m very fast”. He also higlighted that he can play on both wings.

He has come to Riazor hoping “to play a little more than in Valencia”. And he hopes this season “to do everything to compete. We have a good team”.
