Club Statement

27/08/2020 20:15

We are outraged by the unprecedented decision against the values of this competition and Real Club Deportivo. An important part of the sports justice proceedings has come to an end today. In our case, it has chosen to ignore and tolerate arbitrary action with dangerous consequences for all those involved. We honestly and innocently believed justice would prevail. However, it seems like doing everything consistently and correctly does not work in a system that exchanges support for perks.

Today we have been forced to take the longer path; one of true justice, which Real Club Deportivo is being denied. The search for justice will not lie in the result of the ruling (which we shall comply with as we have no other option), but in being able to defend our interests before professional and independent judges with all the procedural guarantees, and not be subject to the institutional and media persecution that we have suffered since 20 July. Before that day, and since then, Deportivo has not breached a single protocol, a single law, a single regulation, nothing. And up to this day, alongside CD Numancia, we are the ones affected by all of this. That is why, no matter what, we are going to continue fighting for justice, so that the offenders are punished, and the innocent are not harmed.

Despite this, Deportivistas, we must not feel sorry for ourselves, nor make ourselves out as victims. It is not the first time that centralised decisions have determined we are guilty when we were the only victim. Unfortunately, this is how this industry works and the only thing we have left is the fight in us to try and change it. Once again, we must face this tough and complicated challenge TOGETHER. We must never lose heart. What we are witnessing and what we know lies ahead is very difficult to take in. We cannot feel more helpless than we already do. But we must channel that energy in two directions. One, supporting the Club and the team to get back to where we deserve as soon as possible. And the other, in the offices and the courts, to sooner rather than later, be part of a fairer and more transparent football industry, free of individuals who, with proven and permanent conflicts of interest, manage our money as their own, the money that you generate. We hope that by then, justice has already partially repaired the damage they are causing us.

For this reason, we will not withdraw any of the procedures underway and, where appropriate, we will transfer them to the ordinary courts to be processed in accordance with the law.

Deportivistas, we have another message for all of you regarding the future.

We will work tirelessly from now on to return to professional football, avoiding the slightest loophole that may allow another unpunished robbery like the one we are suffering to take place. But from now on, and above all, when that is achieved, let us not forget:
- Who put an entire city and our team at risk by putting their personal and economic interests ahead of people's health.

- Who accused a Club and a City of not caring about the health of their players when the doctor and all the people who attended them, at all levels, during their stay here, were members of the Club and citizens of A Coruña.
- Who lied, manipulated, skewed, and hid information from their media and their personal accounts, supposedly being professional journalists.
- Who in other clubs made this their own case, showing why and for how much they are capable of rejecting the most basic values in a democratic state of law.
- Who reported and sent the Police to illegally detain an exemplary citizen and athlete. And those who, not happy with the fact that a judge (a real one, the only one so far in this whole procedure) condemned their behaviour, tried to sue our captain again.
- Who, from the presidency of an institution of which we form part of, personally protected, helped, and even congratulated a member club while attacking Real Club Deportivo and CD Numancia using all means at his disposal.
- Who acts as a judge, who as a father decides who gets what, who acts as an advisor and manipulator in a corrupt system that must be eradicated in Spanish football and sports.
- Who stepped forward and provided their ID to manage the interests and investments of those who really manage the threads and the corporate framework of a club from their privileged position.
- Who applies the rules depending on who the offender is, generating disparities in the equal rights and obligations that all clubs must have in the competition.

Furthermore, we must always be thankful:
 - To those who, as medical professionals and legal persons, worried about those infected by the most important coronavirus outbreak in the world of football, taking care of the sick and preventing the virus from spreading throughout the city.
- To those, whether they are Deportivistas or not, who have worked objectively to get to the bottom of the situation and have come to the conclusion that there are no doubts that the competition has been adulterated and that the cause we defend is justifiable.
- To those who, from their media and their personal accounts, carried out their work as journalists with total honesty, reporting what happened, without bias and focusing only on sharing information, in some cases putting their jobs at risk.

- To those who, from the local and regional institutions acted impartially as what they are, the legitimate representatives of the citizens, defending the interests of the people who live in the territories in which they govern.
- To those who, from their clubs, have publicly shown respect towards a case that was not theirs.

Finally, to everyone: make no mistake, we will continue to fight until the end. You will see us make our comeback and understand why our club calls Deportivistas #ANosaForza (Our Strength).

Forza Dépor! #WeDÉmandJustice
