It was a hectic morning for Costel Pantilimon today. The Romanian Goalkeeper underwent a medical examination, first thing this morning, in A Coruña’s HM Modelo Hospital. He then signed his contract and went straight to Abegondo to meet his new teammates and the coaching staff. At 5 pm he will return to Abegondo to train with Manu Sotelo (Goalkeeper Coach).

In his first statement to the press, Pantilimon confessed that Florin Andone, who he has been with these past few days, had an important role in his decision to sign for Deportivo: “He only told me good things. He is very happy here. He said nice people, nice Club, a beautiful environment for football”.

He also told the press he was ready to debut on Sunday at the Estadio ABANCA-RIAZOR (12 pm, Bein LaLiga), if the coach deems so: “Yes I’m fit to play. The coach has to make that decision. But first, I want to get to know the people of the Club”.

Pantilimon said he knows Dépor through Florin Andone “and when they played in Champions League”.

He sees coming to LaLiga as a challenge “after six seasons in the Premier League. I’m very excited and looking forward to seeing how it is in this league”.
