Cristobal Parralo admits “A draw is fair from what happened on the pitch”

Cristobal Parralo stated in Estadio ABANCA-RIAZOR’s press room that, “we already detected the problem on the very first day, we concede many goals. And when I say in defence, I’m talking about the whole team, not just the defenders. It’s obvious we can’t score 2 goals every match, and concede 2 or 3 goals like we have done in the last two weeks.”

For this reason, the Deportivista coach urged to “keep on trying to improve that facet. Let’s see if with everyone’s effort we can achieve it. We then have players that make an impact up front, which I’m sure if we end up becoming more solid, there will be many matches where we will blatantly win because of the quality of the players up front.”

Regarding the final result, Cristobal believes “it was a competitive match. Both teams had chances to win and to lose. A draw is fair from what happened on the pitch.”

Athletic Club’s coach, 'Cuco' Ziganda, said, “we began the match well. But after the goal, I don’t know whether it was because the home team closed spaces or because we stopped combining, unconsciously, we began to play deep. And they were our worst minutes. Then, at the end of the first half, we were able to slow down the home team’s attack.”

After the interval, the Basque coach explained that “the second half was ours. We were able to score the second goal (1-2) and we had enough chances to score the third. Rico one, and another by Iturraspe... Then when Andone came on, they had more forwards and it’s true that they pressed high, but I don’t have the sensation that we fell back. With the 2-2 we created clear opportunities to score the third goal.”

For this reason, according to Ziganda, “we had clear opportunities to win and we let the match slip. We can’t be happy.”
