Gaizka Garitano spoke to the press this morning about his return to Ipurua for Saturday’s away match (6:30pm, Bein Sports): “I spent many years there. In the end, you’re going back home. You see friends, acquaintances. But the most important thing and the only one that worries me, is that Dépor win there. To be focused on the game”.

He described tomorrow’s match against Eibar as “difficult. They are strong at home, and we still haven’t won a game away. For us, it’s a nice challenge to play there, try to win. The team has trained well this week, we’ve thoroughly prepared the match. Let’s see if we can achieve that victory we need so much”.

He predicts changes compared to last Friday’s formation against Las Palmas, “now that we’ve recovered our wingers, the idea is to play with the wingers we have available”.

He explained why Davy Roef was included in the list with our other two keepers: “So he can settle in and get to know us”.

Regarding Bruno Gama, Carles Gil, Ola John and Kakuta, Garitano stated “they’ve trained without a problem all week. They haven’t felt any discomfort. In the end, three of those four are going. Ready to play without a problem”.

In reference to Kakuta, Gaizka said, “the problem is whether he can last ninety minutes after months without playing. The idea is to use him during the match and we’ll see whether it’s from the beginning or after”. As for Bruno Gama, Carles Gil and Kakuta, he added “none of them are fit to play ninety minutes”. The solution according to Garitano “is to double the pairs, one pair begins and the other finishes”.

Asked about Luisinho’s absence, he expressed that it was due to technical reasons only: “I’m delighted with Luisinho. He is doing everything well, he trains very well. He has performed superbly. I now have four full backs and have to leave one out. I’ve left him out due to the way the game has been planned”.

Finally, referring to the winter transfer window, which is still open, Garitano said “what we have done is replace one man for another. Rubén leaves, another goalkeeper comes. Borja Valle has left, another winger comes. Ryan Babel left...The squad is still short, like before. We couldn’t have a shorter squad. In that aspect, the Club has worked well, as I believe it always has”.
