Dépor’s fate of getting through to the next Copa del Rey round, will be decided tomorrow against Alavés in Mendizorroza (7pm, Bein Sports). In Riazor’s press room this morning, Gaizka Garitano insisted, “it’s a beautiful competition. We’re in the final rounds. We’re going with the hope to win. We also have Saturday’s game in mind (against Villarreal in Riazor, 8:45pm, Bein Sports), but we don’t want to be out of this competition”.

He described tomorrow’s match in Vitoria as “a final, because if we don’t win, we’re out. We want to at least try and get through to the next round”.

Asked whether there was a favourite after the first leg’s 2-2, Garitano said, “the tie is open, either of us can win”.

He assures that Deportivo will run onto Mendizorroza's field and "try to play as always and score more goals than the rival. It's true we have a 2-2 that isn't in our favour. And even though the tie is very open, we need a draw with many goals, or a victory. That shows us what we have to do. We will have a difficult match, but I hope they will too, and the tie won't be decided until the end".

He also explained why Álex Bergantiños is not in the list. He confirmed it was due to “technical reasons” and went on to say: “The main problem is that we count on Celso (Borges), Guilherme and Mosquera. It’s the most reinforced position in the team, with the most players and the least injuries. It’s the biggest inconvenient as to why he hasn’t played so far”.
