Juanfran and Luisinho are happy with an “important” victory and a match “we had to win”.
After the match against Alavés, that ended in Deportivo’s first victory this campaign, Juanfran and Luisinho, the captain and the goal scorer of the night, were the two marineros that spoke to the press at the Estadio ABANCA-RIAZOR’s Mixed Zone.
Juanfran admitted that “it was very important for us to win. But it was even more important to win the way we did, with a clean sheet, with a more serious team, more compact, that competed throughout 90 minutes and didn’t lose the plot of the match; only allowing a long-distance shot and a corner kick and nothing else. It was very important to win and even more so the way we did it, proving a more convincing front”.
The Deportivista right-back thought that “in the last few metres we were a bit anxious. Things didn’t go well in the first few matches and when you reach those last few metres, you just can’t help it. We were a bit sloppy in our final passes”.
The Branquiazul defender is happy with coming out with “a clean sheet. We’ve managed to reduce the bad run of conceding goals. We seem to be climbing out of the hole we were in”.
Luisinho was “happy with the victory, it was very important for us. It was a match we had to win”.
The Deportivista left-back stated that the team were expecting a “tense, complicated game. Both teams needed the points. We knew it was going to be a very close match. We controlled the match from the first to the last minute”.
That said, he also stated that “we had one or two opportunities to score, we have to seal the match”.
Now, he highlighted that the victory “gives us confidence. It was very important for us. So, we have to keep going, and stay positive. Now we have a match against Espanyol, and we’re going for the three points”.
Therefore, towards the end of the first half, he admitted feeling “happy for my first goal in LaLiga, and for helping Deportivo win”.
