Lucas was the centre of attention in Abegondo this morning. He stated that they cannot wait to the play after the international break, “especially against a rival (Malaga) who is currently not doing well. It will be a complicated match where they need to win.”

He explained that these days without competition, “We’ve been working on the flaws the coach believes we have. He’s beginning to slowly introduce concepts. These two weeks have been good for us. This week we’re working on how to face Sunday’s match” at La Rosaleda (12 pm, Bein LaLiga).

On a personal level, the Coruña striker said, “I feel much better each day. You can tell I didn’t do a pre-season, and with time, working with the group every day helps me.”

He believes that in Malaga “we have to play our game. If they become anxious, we have to play with that. We’re going to a difficult ground,” he warned.

He wants to win on Sunday “to start climbing” after the victory in Las Palmas and a last-minute defeat at the Estadio ABANCA-RIAZOR against Atletico de Madrid. “The dynamic of the team is good, we’re going there to win like we did in Las Palmas, to continue climbing,” he concluded.

He assured, “We know we can win home games as well as away games. We can do it.”

With Cristobal’s arrival, Lucas highlighted that “the coach has worked on our defending this week, he has focused on pressing high, so that the three lines are closer together. It’s what he's worked on the most.”

Asked about his favourite system, he said he was comfortable with any system: “You mark the tactic at the start of the game and then the players’ mobility varies. It’s going to depend on what the coach asks of us every match. I’m comfortable playing alone up front or with another teammate.”
