Pepe Mel: There’s room for improvement, a lot of room for improvement

At the end of the match against Betis, Pepe Mel acknowledged in Estadio Benito Villamarín’s press room that “we found it a little hard to get into the game. But then I think we did things well, we reacted well. We had options to do more”.

The Deportivista coach highlighted that “we made mistakes in three or four counter-attacks where we had a numerical advantage. We had two clear opportunities of five for three, and four for two. We have made mistakes in the last pass. Betis had one of those and did it phenomenally”.

He was upset with Betis’ second goal as it came “from a corner in our favour which we decided to keep on combining instead of finishing”.

Pepe Mel finished off by saying, “I didn’t dislike the team. There's room for improvement, to do things well. I liked Celso’s participation, Valverde did well when he was on, Fede Cartabia was good, Bakkali too, Arribas gave us security. There’s room for improvement, a lot of room for improvement. I think we're going to achieve it”.
