Seedorf: “The team is dedicated to carry on performing as well as possible”

Deportivo’s coach, Clarence Seedorf, stated in ABANCA-RIAZOR’s press room this afternoon that “the team is dedicated to carry on performing as well as possible until the end. That’s how they’ve trained. They’ve done well this week.”

He assured “we have more than one motivation to do well” in #ONOSODERBI tomorrow, in Balaidos against RC Celta (6:30 pm, Bein LaLiga): “On a Club level, on a supporter level, on a group level, we deserve to finish playing how we’re doing at the moment, with the best performance possible. What they’re proving every day is that they want to finish off the best way possible.”

He thanked the players’ words in the press room, in Adrian or Borja Valle’s case this week, who praised the Dutch coach’s work since his arrival at the Branquiazul bench: “I’m the one that's grateful. Since the first day I arrived they have been willing, they have worked marvellously. I’m sorry for them, for the Club, for the fans, that the results came late. It’s part of sports. This group deserves respect, because they have worked phenomenally every day, with great professionalism. I’m the one that’s grateful for everything they have given me and are giving at the moment, because we haven’t finished.”

He insisted, “we still have 3 games left. Everyone should focus on finishing these matches with the best level possible. There will be plenty of time to talk about everything after. All the thoughts about next year are going to take something away from us. This goes for me, for the Club, for the players. It’s a mistake. Being professional means every match, every training session you do your best. That’s how I grew as a professional and as a coach.”

He was straight to the point about whether he will give youth players an opportunity in this last stage of the league: “Youth players will climb to the first team if they are prepared. It's not abc if you're a youth player you go up. What I can tell you is that Mujaid (U19 centre-back) will train with us every day. I think he is an interesting player for the future. It’s a prize for the way he has behaved every time he has trained with us. Training with the first team is more important that playing wherever else you may play. We cannot burn them out, we have to bring them when they're ready to prepare them. There is a process.”

He insisted “we’ve found 11, 12, 13 important players, plus the bench. I want to give continuity to this. And then I’m sure in the last games we can reward some with some minutes on the pitch. I have that feeling. But my first feeling is to get the best performance in every match.”

Regarding Celta, he said “it’s a very dangerous team. They have a lot of talent up front. They like to play the ball, they have talent in every line. We have to be careful with that. We have our objectives, that begin with the word pride and give continuity to the group’s work well done.”

Regarding his future, he insisted on what he said last Sunday after the match against FC Barcelona, in which the relegation to LaLiga 1|2|3 was certified: “Everything’s open. I’ve always been clear that I feel comfortable here. From the very first day I have felt like at home. I have worked with great pleasure.”

The Dutch coach now asks “to finish the season the best way. I hope the Club has the patience to take its time. Dépor deserve to be in Primera, they deserve to rebuild something important. That’s why it’s necessary to take one's time to make decisions more calmly. This Club deserves this, this city deserves this.”
