Sidnei was the centre of attention this morning in Abegondo’s press room. He believes that this Friday’s match against UD Las Palmas (8:45pm, Gol TV), is “very important and against a good team. So, it’s a good opportunity to achieve an away win”.

Our central defender insisted that “we have had really good away matches where we deserved a victory. In the end, it wasn’t meant to be and we have to carry on working”.

He then stated, “we are doing a good job, we’re happy with what we’re doing. We want to transform that good work into results, victories”.

Regarding being paired up at the back with Arribas, in last Saturday’s match, Sidnei highlighted that: “We have a strong group where everyone is ready to play. It doesn’t matter who plays, Dépor is always strong to compete against whoever”.

The Deportivista described UD Las Palmas as a team that “plays football very well. They attack very well. What we have to do is defend well and make the most of the chances we get”.

Asked about Guilherme’s role in Deportivo, he replied, “we’re all very happy. He’s doing a great season. He’s a quality player. We hope he’ll help us a lot this season”.

Referring to Ola John, Sidnei said, “I already had the opportunity of playing with him in Benfica. I know him well. He’s a great player. He’s going to help us a lot”.

As for Dépor’s other winter signing, Gaël Kakuta, Sidnei stated: “I’ve known him since he played in Rayo Vallecano. He did a good season. He's come to help us”.
