Sidnei Rechel was the centre of attention in Abegondo's press room this morning.

The Deportivista central defender confessed he is “very happy” with his new role in the squad, as one of the captains.

After the first two matches of LaLiga Santander, he believes the team is “great”: “We’re on the right track. The other day we snatched a point away from home, in a complicated match. We have to carry on like this because I’m sure we’re going to have a great season”.

Regarding the transfer window he said, “we don’t think about it much. It doesn’t depend on us. What we do, is work every day to be ready for match day”.

Asked about Lucas Pérez, Sidnei said, “he is a great player. He's given us a lot. If he comes, we’ll be very happy”.

Along these lines, he imagined Andone and Lucas paired together: “They're two great players. It would be really good for us and for Dépor”. “They can contribute a lot throughout the season. It would be really good for all of us”, he added.

On a personal level, he assured everyone that he has been completely calm and focused on his daily work during this transfer window: “I’ve always had a calm mind here. I’ve always been very relaxed”.

In fact, he recalled Valencia CF’s interest in signing him a few months back: “I have been really happy here since the day I arrived. I’ve always been happy. I’m at ease here. The decision to stay wasn’t very difficult to make”.

Asked about Fabian Schär, his new teammate at the back, Sidnei highlighted that “we’re all happy with him and with everyone that has come. They are helping us a lot. I’m sure that they’ll be important players throughout the season, with regard to our objective”.
