The lads think that today’s win is an “almost definite” step towards achieving the objective

Today’s goalscorer, Pedro Mosquera, and Alejandro Arribas spoke to the media in Riazor’s mixed zone.

The Coruña midfielder stated “we knew it was crucial to win here today, at home, against a rival in the same league as us. Today was fundamental. And that’s what happened”.

With these three points, Pedro Mosquera highlighted that “we took a huge step towards saving our season”.

Regarding today’s encounter, he said, “the first half didn’t flow like we would have liked it to. They had quite a lot of possession, and even then we had the clearest chance with Carles Gil’s shot inside the box. We were much better in the second half, we pressed higher, we connected better in the wings with Juanfran, Carles Gil and Kakuta. We did a good second half and we were able to stand the minutes they pressed”.

Alejandro Arribas emphasized that “if Sporting de Gijón doesn’t win, it’s not a definite step, but nearly. We will have nearly achieved the objective, but with football you never know”.

The Deportivista central-defender highlighted that this victory “gives us confidence” for the final sprint in the league.

He did not seem bothered about the players who were booked today (Carles Gil, Guilherme and Arribas), and who will be suspended for next Sunday’s game in Anoeta against Real Sociedad : “The players that played in those positions did very well”.
