Andone believes it is crucial to “get through the first minutes”

After receiving February’s Estrella Galicia Player of the Month award, Florin Andone spoke to the press in Abegondo.

The Romanian striker recalled, “there are still 27 points to be played. We’ve seen many things in football. Let’s hope God comes down from heaven and gives us the luck we need to remain in this division and to do something we haven’t been doing so far.”

Andone assured, “we’re very upset because of the situation we're in. Not just because of our situation, but because of what it means to the Club, the city, the fans, who are always with us. We feel like we’re letting them down. It’s a situation that affects all of us. We can only take this one week at a time and be positive.”

Thus, the Deportivista forward promised “we’re going to try and make the most of all our options. We're going to fight until the end and hope to give a good image from here to the end of the season.”

He insisted that achieving the objective “depends on us. If we play good football, practical, where luck is on our side and the ball goes into the back of the net, and the rival isn’t as lucky, you end up winning. You don’t always have to be the best. We find it harder away from home.”

Along these lines, he believes “we deserved to win the last 4 home games, and we didn’t win any of them. I don’t know how to explain that. Let’s hope everything comes together so we’re the lucky ones and not the rival; and we can achieve more points than our rival which is currently Levante.”

Regarding the Sunday's rival at the Wanda Metropolitano, Atletico de Madrid (8:45 pm, Bein LaLiga), he said, “they can play with whoever they want. It’s Atletico de Madrid. They're playing at home with a strong team, whom we respect a lot. But they're not invincible. We have to think that we also have a chance. We have to try and face the match whichever way possible because even a draw isn’t enough. We have to make 3 points consecutively. We’re going to take risks and try to bring 3 points home. It’s going to be complicated, we all know it's very difficult and that Atletico de Madrid are favourites, but we also break that streak and obtain something positive, right? We have to be confident, we have to have faith in what we’re doing because you never know when you can win.”

Asked about Atletico’s injured players, Andone said, “they have a wide selection of very good players. They’re playing at home, and they are strong with their crowd’s support. They're second, they want to secure that spot, and even maybe win the league. No way do they fear us. They want to kill us, they want to gain 3 points no matter how. But we’ll be there.”

To try and surprise Atletico, Andone suggested, “we have to try and get through the first minutes because it’s scoring lots of goals away from home is tough. I’ve been here for 2 years and away from home has been difficult. It’s hardly ever gone well for us. The key is to not concede early on, try and get through the game, and hopefully score a goal, hold on to that, be strong, defend well, and try and kill the game so they don’t have many chances.”
