Alex Bergantiños was the centre of attention in Abegondo this morning.

The Deportivista skipper stated “everyone is willing to contribute. We’re building a solid team. The team is going to know how to compete and suffer in the matches. Then there will be days where we’ll be more or less effective, more or less precise with the ball.”

Regarding yesterday’s draw in Albacete, he said “from my experience last year, conceding 1 or 2 chances like we did throughout the whole match isn’t easy, it’s an achievement. In this division, you’ll see that teams change and suffer a lot when they play away. Personally, I’m satisfied with the team’s performance.”

Furthermore, he insisted that Deportivo “was closer to winning than Albacete. That’s something positive away from home and at the start of the championship.”

The Coruña midfielder admitted “they played deep and we found it difficult to break through when we reached the last third of the pitch. We reached their box lots of times, there were lots of crosses that nobody latched onto but as we continue training and playing games we will become coordinated in those kinds of actions.”

Asked about yesterday’s refereeing decisions, Alex Bergantiños replied, “referees will try to be as fair as possible. It’s a complicated profession, they have to make decisions in seconds. It’s strange that they are using the VAR system in Primera, in Segunda we're professionals too, it would be great help in those kinds of circumstances.”

He recalled that Deportivo’s situation is more complicated because of the relegation, “the changes in the squad, the way of playing. Our version will change as we play more matches. But we’re going to face different difficulties throughout the competition. What we have to do is constantly adapt. In this aspect, we’re polishing things up, our way of playing and the way we read the game. The competition is going to mark the level you have. The ideal thing is to grow as the competition advances.”
