Borja Valle was the centre of attention in Abegondo’s press room this morning. He stated he was “very happy” to have scored his first goal at the Estadio ABANCA-RIAZOR last Saturday, against West Bromwich Albion during the 72nd edition of the Teresa Herrera Trophy: “Every player wishes to score in front of his fans, at home. I had that chance last weekend, and it turned out well. On a personal level, I’m very happy”.

He spoke about the pre-season on a personal level: “I’m very happy. In the end, I’m going to be able to play in several positions and it’s a good sign that the coach uses you. He’s counting on me. I have decided to train, if it’s as a full-back I will do the best I can, and if it’s as a striker, better”.

He highlighted that Pepe Mel “has shown he is counting on me from the beginning. I’m only thinking about staying here, growing as footballer, settling down, being happy, and contributing”.

This pre-season, Borja Valle has played as a full-back, as a winger, and as a striker. He said that the coach sees his versatility as “something positive”. “The coach sees it as something positive, I have to see it as something positive. If the coach sees it that way, I can only see it the same way; contributing and looking at the bright side of things”, he added.

Regarding the way things are going for the team this summer, Borja Valle warned that the good thing about the match against FC Porto was that “it gave us insight to certain things we’re lacking that we have to solve individually and collectively. I see it in a positive way (the pre-season). The other day we played a good match where there were good things and bad things, which there always is. It’s been a really positive pre-season”.
