29/12/2016 14:00

Real Club Deportivo and ABANCA, have decided to promote the Club's women's teams by coming together and forming the teams' names, which will now officially be known as, Deportivo ABANCA and Deportivo ABANCA B (Dépor ABANCA in short).

ABANCA's support to Dépor is fundamental to consolidate the women's football team project launched by the Club this summer, whose aim is to make the Blue and Whites a reference of women's football in Galicia and, in the medium term, one of the top teams of Spanish football. For the Galician financial institution, it is one more step beyond its determined support to the sports world in all areas and categories, having sponsored more than a hundred clubs and 14.000 Galician sports people through their foundation ‘Fundación Deporte Galego’.

The agreement was announced at midday by Real Club Deportivo's Chairman, Tino Fernández, at the presentation of the Club's 1st Social Responsibility Memorandum, in which a notable section refers to the "Commitment to Equality" and is backed by the implementation of this project and ABANCA's new support. Just after the announcement, Dépor ABANCA players Estefi and Maria Corral, accompanied by the Deportivista Chairman, showed how the team's shirts will look for the remainder of the season, with ABANCA's image on the front and on the sleeve. ABANCA will also appear in all the equipment and media linked to the teams.
