This morning in Abegondo’s press room, Gaizka Garitano reminded everyone how difficult it is going to be to beat Athletic Club in San Mamés tomorrow (6:30pm, Bein Sports): “They’ve only lost there against Barcelona. It’s a very strong team, especially at home. We’re very keen, we’re in need (of points), we’re going with everything we need to obtain a good result”.

The Deportivista coach explained that “there’s no need for drastic changes or to invent stuff. I know what we’re going to do”. However, he made a point of saying, “we need to change some details such as starting the match well; something we haven’t done in the last two games. When you visit grounds like those you have to be consistent in defence, work well without the ball, because with it we’re good. We have to be consistent when we don’t have the ball throughout the whole game, so that we don’t concede any goals or one the most”.

Regarding Athletic, he highlighted they have “impact players that are very strong in the attacking third of the pitch. They are very strong in the opposing area. They have stages of 15-20 minutes where they’re very strong and they push you back. That’s where we have to defend well”.
