In today’s press conference in Abegondo, Gaizka Garitano said, “We have high hopes for tomorrow's match” referring to tomorrow's Copa del Rey match against Betis (9pm Bein Sports). “Let’s see if we can get through to the next round”.

He described the match against Betis as “a final. If we don’t win, or get the result we need to progress, we are out of a competition we want to continue being in”.

He highlighted that Deportivo will face the clash “as if it were a league match, with the same mentality. We want to win, knowing we have an adverse result of 1-0. We have to try and turn this around”.

The Deportivista coach insisted, “it’s important for both teams. We don’t want to be out of the Copa. They are doing things very well. It is a Primera División rival, difficult. We believe that in Riazor, our home, with our people and our desire to win, we can play a good match and have a good night”.

He reminded everyone, “historically, we have gained wonderful things in the Copa. I am constantly reminding the players that. The Club has experienced great Copa matches, and holds fond memories of those titles. Why can’t we go far in this competition?”.

Despite the team’s good progress and image in the last games, Garitano played it down: “We weren’t that bad before, and we’re not that good now. We have to keep our feet on the ground, and we have to keep improving”.
