Juanfran and Andone agree that it was an unfair result

Juanfran, one of the captains, and Florin Andone, tonight’s goal-scorer, spoke to the press in the mixed zone at the Estadio ABANCA-RIAZOR.

The right-back stated that “the team is more intense now, more focused in the matches. We achieved a draw against Villarreal and tonight, in two very unfortunate occasions, we were 0-2 down and we had a clear chance to draw at the end.”

He explained that “we have to be quicker in our box and also in the rival’s area. We did the rest quite well and that’s the path we have to keep on.”

Juanfran admitted that today’s defeat was cruel because “we played against the best team of the first round and they did very little to beat us. They did their work, they’re a very intense team. Towards goal it’s true that they didn’t have very clear chances. We defended well except on two occasions that came out of nowhere.”

On his behalf, Florin Andone thinks that the defeat was “very unfair. The team did well throughout most of the game. We were very clever with the ball in play. It’s true that we faced a very strong team, who know how to play the ball very well. It’s a very unfair result. We didn’t deserve to concede two goals in this match and we deserved to score more than one goal.”

The Romanian insisted that the result was “disappointing for us because we've worked really hard. We had a load on us since the first goal, we tried to do our best and in the end, we have nothing to show for it. We have to carry on working and hope to be a bit luckier in the next match.”

He highlighted that in the dressing-room “people are disappointed, sad, wanting next week to come and get another chance against a very tough rival. There are moments like this in life too. I’m sure we’re going to get through this. People who understand football know that the team has made a huge effort today to gain more.”
