Luisinho: “In very equal matches, playing at home counts a lot”

If Dépor make points against Girona on Monday (9 pm, Gol) at the Estadio ABANCA-RIAZOR, it will be their third match without losing and Luisinho described this fact as something positive: “Making points is always good. We have to maintain that dynamic”.

The Deportivista left-back said that the 4 points gained in the last 6 points played “isn’t bad. Now we have to beat Girona at home”.

He described the Catalan side as a team “that has clear ideas. That's why it’s not going to be a match as easy as we think”.

He hopes the team repeats the way they performed against Getafe and Alavés, “show them we’re playing at home, prove we want to win the match, and of course, win”.

If Dépor win, it will be the third consecutive match at the Estadio ABANCA-RIAZOR: “Victories give you confidence. It’s a very important game for us. We know what’s in play for us, and we’re only focused on making 3 points”.

He assured everyone that there is no debate in the changing room about who should defend the Deportivista goal: “For us there’s no debate. We have four great keepers. Last time it was Francis’ turn. We’re delighted because he’s very young, a hard worker, down to earth. We’re delighted with his debut and that everything turned out well. It’s a goalkeeper thing in which we don’t get involved".

Luisinho acknowledged that “In very equal matches, playing at home counts a lot. We have to take advantage of this. We played against two direct rivals, Alavés and Getafe, and we made 6 points. That’s why that factor counts a lot”.

Furthermore, the Portuguese footballer admitted that “in the first league matches we conceded quite a lot of goals. It’s true we played against teams with a great attacking side. Now, there’s the positive fact that we didn’t concede any goals in Eibar, a ground which isn’t easy to make points”.

Along these lines, in Ipurua he saw, “quite a sacrificing spirit in players that play up front, and that is noticeable. They (Eibar) didn’t create real threats, the match was quite under control. It’s easier for us defenders. It's more difficult to beat a solidary team”.

Asked about Fede Valverde, the teammate that plays in front of him, Luisinho highlighted “with him, really good. He’s a lad with more quality than the average player. He's still young. He has a tendency to play through the middle, but he’s doing well on the wing”.
