Luisinho: "The team wants to solve this as soon as possible. Not being able to achieve it is causing frustration"
Luisinho was the centre of attention this morning in Abegondo’s press room. He stated that “we’re a bit sad because we knew it was a match that could guarantee our position in LaLiga next season; we neither secured that position, nor did we give the fans something to enjoy. But we will carry on fighting, we’re closer to the objective, we need one point and we have a home game against Espanyol (Sunday 7 May, 6:30 pm, Bein Sports) in which we can secure our place, and end this suffering”.
Regarding yesterday’s match in Pamplona, the Deportivista left-back said that even though Osasuna have already been relegated, he was expecting them “to come out strong, the way they did in the match. We did the most difficult thing which was to come back and take the lead. It slipped out of our hands in the last minutes, but the team fought until the end. We didn’t achieve the objective we wanted. But we have three games left, the first against Espanyol at home; which we have to win”.
The Deportivo defender understands the fans’ anger: “The team wants to solve this as quickly as possible. I understand the fans. I have a special affection for the fans because when I went through the most negative moment, they were always on my side. Because of them, I am in 100%. I know it’s difficult for them, to travel kilometres, to suffer as much as us. I understand their frustration in this final stage of the league, that we still haven’t given them that joy”.
Along these lines he said, “The team wants to solve this as soon as possible. We’re finding it tough. I have no doubt about my teammates; they give their all on the pitch. That’s why not being able to achieve it is causing frustration”.
He was calm when asked about his future: “I have a contract with Deportivo. I’m delighted to be here”. I went through a difficult time last year. But I’m very well here, I feel the city. My family is very well here. I’m not worried about the future”.
He insisted “the objective is for Deportivo to secure its spot. There may be conversations held with the Club after, but the objective is securing Deportivo’s spot in first division”.
