RC Deportivo have signed Daniel Gimenez Hernandez (30 July 1983, Vigo-Pontevedra) for the 2018-2019 season.

Dani Gimenez, as he is known in the football world, comes from Betis, the club where he has played in for the last four seasons. The goalkeeper from Vigo has signed for two seasons.

In the shadow of an international Spanish potential as is Antonio Adan, the Galician goalkeeper has only been able to play 10 league games these past years. Hence, in the 8 games he played in First Division he only conceded 4 goals, achieving an average of 0.5 per game. In fact, the 4 that he played in the season that has just finished, he obtained a clean sheet.

With the Béticos he also played 11 Copa del Rey matches, with a total of 21 in the past 4 seasons.

Previously, Dani Gimenez played for Celta B (2001-2004), Zamora (2004-2009), Rayo Vallecano (2009-2013) and Alcorcon (2013-14). It was precisely in Alcorcon where he had the best season of his career, disputing the 42 Second Division matches and conceding only 40 goals.

With the Vallecano team, where he coincided with Deportivista Ruben Martinez, he achieved the first promotion to First Division of his career, at the end of the 2010-2011 season. Four years later he would repeat this with Betis.

Dani Gimenez’s numbers in the professional categories are excellent, having conceded 98 goals in 89 matches between First and Second Division. Also, in his 8 seasons in Segunda B between Celta B and Zamora he averaged less than one goal per game: 133 goals in 141 games.
