Pedro Mosquera says the team will have to be on top of our game from back to front against Real Madrid
Pedro Mosquera was the centre of attention in Abegondo’s press room this morning.
The local midfielder said that the team is in a good moment to begin LaLiga Santander on Sunday, at 10:15 pm (Movistar Partidazo) at the Estadio ABANCA-RIAZOR: “We’ve come from a good week in Vilalba and in Tenerife. It has been a positive experience for everyone and I think we're in a good moment”.
Mosquera assured that “from the very first day we arrived the atmosphere has been brilliant, with those of us that were already here and those that have arrived. The people that came later have joined the team better than it was. And that’s allowed us to get to know each other a little more and form a tighter group”.
Asked about being chosen as first captain this season, our number ‘5’ said “it’s an honour for someone from Coruña to be Deportivo’s captain, whether it’s the first team’s or any other team in the Academy. I will try to represent the Club the best way possible both on and off the pitch. I will try and make sure there is harmony, a good atmosphere, both in the team as well as in the Club and with the fans. That’s what we’re going to try and do, and have a good year and a good season”.
Regarding Real Madrid, he said that “we cannot be afraid of them, we respect all of our rivals and Real Madrid more because they’re going through an incredible moment. The last two years and the beginning of the third they have been spectacular, and to top it all they have been playing important matches in the States as well as here. They’ve played top matches and they will come with a good pace which we have to counter with our own weapons”.
For this, Mosquera believes that to face the current European Super champion, “we have to work more without the ball and when we have it, we have to be brave”.
He said that against Los Blancos “anything can happen. It’s a team that lets you have the ball more than Barcelona, but we know that in that moment when you’re confident, when it looks like you’re playing well, you’re reaching their area, they have very fast people to counter-attack. We have to be careful, we have to read the game well, know when to play compact, and when to play wide. We have to be intelligent to play a good match and be on top of our game the whole ninety minutes”.
