After the match against Getafe CF, Pepe Mel highlighted in Estadio ABANCA-RIAZOR’s press room that “the team is advancing. Small steps, that’s true. We have to take more to achieve what we have set out to do”.

The Deportivista coach emphasized “I see the team improving. We have a lot to improve and a lot to work on. I’m here to work whilst Dépor want me”.

Mel noted “I have neither trained Real Madrid, nor Barcelona, nor Bayern Munich. Everything I have achieved has been through hard work, when I began in Regional Preferente. I’ve been a coach for 18 years. I’ve lived these situations many times. I knew we were going to perform well today”.

He highlighted that “the harmony within the group is important. The group is together to get things done. And they proved that. The ones that came on later as well as those that played from the start. They’ve contributed and have done well”.

The Branquiazul coach commented, “the pressure was on me, because they would still be Dépor players tomorrow. They did well. They’ve responded well. They’ve all shown they want to win, that they want to get Dépor out of this situation. I’m happy for them, because at the end of the day, they are the true stars”.

Jose Bordalás, Getafe CF’s coach, stated that the match “had a bit of everything, with lots of turning points”.

He admitted that in the first half, “we were outplayed, especially in the right flank. They were able to cross many times. In fact, Guaita did really well in two or three interventions. The team incomprehensibly fell back. Deportivo were very comfortable with the ball”.

After the interval, “the team were in the game more; more comfortable. We took the lead. In fact we could’ve made it 0-2. That’s football. A minute later they equalised, and we had a few uncertain minutes. We then recovered. And in a decisive minute, they scored 2-1”.
