Pepe Mel: We didn’t read the game well

Pepe Mel stated in Estadio Ciutat de Valencia’s press room, that in his opinion, the penalty which saw Levante equalise the match is “obvious it wasn’t a penalty”. “It clearly isn’t”, he insisted.

With this said, the Deportivista coach believes that “if there was a team that deserved to win today, it was Levante”.

The Branquiazul coach emphasized “we didn’t read the game well. Our idea was to keep the ball at the back, calmly, because Levante weren’t going to come for it. We wanted to use Bakkali and Fede Cartabia's pace. The few times we did this was when we created more threats. But we were imprecise, and slow passing the ball. They are things that have been noted down to improve them”.

Pepe Mel is happy with Rubén and Adrián’s performance in this game, who according to Pepe, “is already fit to help us”.
