Seedorf dedicates tonight's win “to all the fans that love these colours”
Clarence Seedorf stated in San Mames’ press room that after tonight’s second back-to-back win against Athletic Club in San Mames, “it’s important to be fully aware of the great significance of this victory for our group.”
He wished to publicly “congratulate the team. Not just the ones that played, but also the ones that are training or playing less. Everyone has a very positive attitude.”
The Dutch coach highlighted the fans’ reaction: “They were very happy after the match. We are happy, and happy for them. Everyone’s suffered, on and off the pitch... Tonight’s win is dedicated to all of those that love these colours.”
He joked with the press about the stress of the final minutes due to Athletic Club pressing: “I don’t have white hair, but I might do soon if they continue like that!” Nonetheless, even though there was some tension, he confessed he was also “confident because I saw they helped each other out a lot. It’s all about respecting the rival, who are a great team, with important players. We all know what football’s like. In the end, we stood our ground and we’re going home with very important points.”
Asked about the other 2 games this week (Tuesday 17th at the ABANCA-RIAZOR against Sevilla and Friday 21st in Leganes), Seedorf recalled that “the exertion is the same for all the teams. All the teams have the same calendar more or less. Let’s see how we recover the next few days, knowing that I can count on a group that has shown that whoever comes on is important. We're physically well but we’ll have to work hard to recover.”
