Seedorf: “I believe in this group because we’ve seen many good things”
Clarence Seedorf stated in ABANCA-RIAZOR’s press room that “every defeat is an unhappy moment. Right now, we have to look at the good things the team did. It was a difficult match, against a team that plays very well with possession. But I think Dépor was always organised throughout the 90 minutes, giving them little space to create chances.”
The Dutch coach said that Deportivo “fought, played as a team. This is the way. We have to carry on. Everyone wanted a different result but there are more games ahead. We are convinced that this is the way. They went into the dressing room disappointed because of the defeat, but with the feeling that the energy and attitude has changed.”
He asked for “a little more patience because this is the right track. The team were competitive today against another top team. I believe in this group because I’ve seen many good things and we have to carry on working to free our minds, free the tension.”
He emphasized he does not look at the league table: “I came here a week ago. My main worry is Dépor. The only thing in my head is Dépor, how we work every day, the conviction of getting out of this situation. I’m convinced, the group is convinced. I see their eyes, their faces, there is disappointment, there is rage. It’s normal, it’s fair.”
The Deportivista coach insisted in looking at “the things the team did well. Several good things, several goal-scoring chances. We have to carry on working and take each match as it comes along."
Quique Setien, Betis’ coach, stated, “we performed quite a complete match. We controlled many things. We played most of the match in the rival’s half, with the local team defending deep. We found it tough to find the way of generating more dangerous actions, more crosses, shots and so on. But we controlled the game, and it’s true that there were times where they created some problems because they have fast, vertical players that are always there. It’s not easy to mark them.”
For this reason, he believes Dépor “is a good team despite its streak... But they have very good players.”
