Seedorf: “The fans’ support is going to be fundamental”

Clarence Seedorf spoke to the press in Abegondo this morning.

The Dutch coach confessed he had met “an enthusiastic group, that have showed the coaching staff they are eager to work. That also goes for the people that work with the Club, they are willing and excited to work together and work. We have good sensations,” he concluded.

Asked about the fans, the Deportivista coach commented, “the have proved their love towards these colours. That has never changed. I don’t think we have much to say. The group simply deserves, from what I’ve seen this week, the fans’ support, because they are lads that work. This week they’ve worked with dedication what we have prepared. Everyone has to look forward to changing this leaf quickly, as soon as possible. It's an important occasion for everyone. And I mean everyone, the players first, for us the coaching staff, for everyone that works in the Club and for the fans. We count on them a lot.” “The fans’ support is going to be fundamental,” he insisted.

Clarence Seedorf warned that on Monday’s encounter against Betis at the Estadio ABANCA-RIAZOR (9 pm, Gol), “we are going to play with pride. Go into the game with a lot of pride, and very eager to play as a team.”

Asked about the rival, he confessed to be “more concerned about Dépor. Betis are a good team, that create danger easily. They’ve scored many goals, but they’ve also conceded plenty. They play quite open. They attack with many players because they have talented and important players. But I’m more concerned about how we’re going to play.”

For his debut on ABANCA-RIAZOR’s bench, he urges his team “to be competitive, play close together. Think as a team. That’s the first thing we have to focus on. We need more time to do more things, as you can all understand.”

He emphasized that his team “has value. The standings do not reflect the potential of this team. They have to believe in their possibilities again. They’ve begun to do this this week. We’ve seen good things, their enthusiasm to work together.”

Despite Dépor beginning today's match second from the bottom in LaLiga’s standings, Seedorf stated “this changes nothing. We’ve not spoken once about the league table. You remind us all the time. One who works in football can go crazy if they constantly look at the standings. There are 16 fixtures ahead of us and we have to gain as many points as possible.”
