Seedorf: “The only thing you can do when things don’t turn out as expected in sports is stick together, believe and work”

Clarence Seedorf stated at the Estadio ABANCA-RIAZOR’s press room that “it all happened in the first goal, in the first 10 minutes.” At the start of the match, the Dutch coach saw his players were “tense, very blocked.”

He highlighted his players’ dedication, “they gave their all on the pitch, but with few ideas.” However, he said the team in the final minutes “reached the box, created chances. Luck wasn’t on our side either.”

Regarding the possibilities of remaining in Primera, Seedorf pointed out, “it’s a mathematical matter and this is why it’s not our last chance.” “We haven’t achieved what we wanted, but there are still 27 points in play. We’re going to play to make the most points possible,” he added.

In this sense, he confessed, “being optimistic or pessimistic is a matter of character. I’m an optimist, that why I was a winner in my career. I’m working to be a winner as a coach too. The journey is hard. People can doubt. The only thing you can do when things don’t turn out as expected in sports is stick together, believe and work.”

On the other hand, Paco Jemez, UD Las Palmas’ coach believes that “we have to look at the situation with some perspective, the matches we have, the matches each one of us have.

He said it was better to wait until the end to see whether this draw is good or not: “It’s not the result Deportivo wanted or the one we wanted. Both of us wanted to get a step ahead, get closer to Levante. Beyond the result, it was competed, in which any of us could have won. I didn’t see a timid match. The match was good, entertaining. Both teams fought with everything they had to get the result in their favour,” he stated.
