Seedorf: "The team remains focused, strong, eager and determined"
Clarence Seedorf highlighted at the ABANCA-RIAZOR’s press room that the team is going to the Wanda Metropolitano for tomorrow’s game against Atletico de Madrid (8:45 pm, Bein LaLiga), with “good vibes. The team continues to train well, remains focused, strong, eager and determined. There’s nothing that says they don’t believe. On the contrary, I’m sure they're going to be a competitive team.”
The Dutch coach explained that the international break gave “the players a little break. There was a need to clear the air.” Hence, with just under 24 hours for the next league match, Seedorf said, “we’re alive, eager to fight.”
He believes that since being in A Coruña “the atmosphere is pessimist. I understand because Dépor have been suffering for years now. But we cannot live in the past. We have to live the present. We must be proud of what the team has achieved in the past, but Deportivo have had many years like this one. There’s no reason to not believe.”
He pointed out that, “looked at objectively, there were several games we deserved much more. Luck is going to have to change at some point. We’re going to change it with the work we're doing, going into the games as a group. Whilst the options are open, this group isn’t going to give in. You can see that in their daily work, something which people may not be able to see. But I see it.”
Seedorf sees in his players “lots of enthusiasm, hard graft, a huge effort in their daily training sessions. Not just the players.”
He does not believe that the number of injured players in Atletico Madrid will lower their potential: “They have a squad that whoever goes on will be at a very high level.”
