Sidnei spoke to the press at the Attica 21 hotel, which is where Deportivo are staying in Vilalba.

One of the team captains, alongside Pedro Mosquera, Borges, and Juanfran, revealed that the players “are happy. It’s good for us to be all together and prepare ourselves even more for the start of the league”.

He admitted he was “happy” to have been confirmed as one of the captains. “I hope to help my teammates reach their objectives, like the past years I have been here”, he said.

Despite only some players will wear the captain’s armband, in Sidnei’s opinion “we are all captains. Each one of us has some sort of responsibility. That’s what’s most important”.

Regarding the start of the season on 20 August, at the Estadio ABANCA-RIAZOR, against Real Madrid (10:15 pm, Movistar Partidazo), the Deportivista defender stated that “we know it’s a tough game, a very important one, against a great team. We’re preparing it really well to play a good match in front of our people”.

Asked about his future in A Coruña, Sidnei was to the point: “My head is here. I’m getting ready to have a great season with Dépor. It’s the only thing on my mind”. “I’m not thinking about anything else other than having a good season here”, he added.

Asked about the recent newcomer, Fabian Schär, the Brazilian defender said, “he's a great player. We’re all happy with him. He’s come to help and I’m sure he's going to do it well”.

This summer, Sidnei believes “the team is doing well with regard to our work plan idea. We’re fine. We feel better every day. We are on the right track to start the season well”.
