Carlos Fernandez: "It would have been impossible without my teammates"

Carlos Fernandez received the news that he had been called to play for Spain's U21 team right after the training session in Abegondo.

He had just enough time to see the team sheet on his mobile phone in the dressing room and be congratulated by his teammate, Carles Gil.

He quickly went up to Abegondo's press room, where the journalists were eager to hear the Andalusian forward's first impressions. Although it is good news for his career, it is not so good for the team, who will not be able to count on one its top scorers for the LaLiga 1|2|3 match against Almeria on Monday 19th November (9 pm, GOL and LaLiga 1|2|3 TV).

Carlos Fernandez pointed out, "one always works to achieve nice things. I'm very happy to get called again."

He was very grateful "to my teammates, to Deportivo. Without them it would have been impossible."

He believes being picked is due to "a bit of everything. The team's start to the season has been quite good. In this sense, everyone, in this case me, come out benefiting. It's a reward for my work, returning to a team with great players. I have to carry on working, carry on the same way because this is the right track."

He regrets having to miss the Almeria match: "It's unfair because you miss your Club's matches. But we have an all-round squad. Whoever goes on will do well. We already saw this when other teammates went to play with their national team. I don't think it's going to be a problem."
