Dépor return to work this morning
Deportivo returned to training in Abegondo this morning despite there not being any competitionen this week.
Fernando Vázquez was only able to count on 14 players, including youth players Pablo Brea and Juan Rodríguez.
Miku, Keko, Derik, and Bóveda trained separately. The centre-back has pain in his adductor, whilst the Basque right-back has pain in his biceps femoris. Borja Granero, Héctor, and Claudio Beauvue also trained separately and all due to knee pain. Furthermore, Uche is on consented leave until 1 January.
Finally, Gandoy and Adri Castro are self-isolating after having tested positive for COVID-19. Both players are well, but will remain in quarantine complying with the health authorities' regulations and who have also been informed.
Captain Álex Bergantiños spoke to the press via video conference in Abegondo.
He believes that the second round of the Copa del Rey against Deportivo Alavés "will do us good because it's the only match throughout this season where we'll be the underdogs. It's going to be good for the team and no matter what happens it will give us confidence."
He also urged that we should "focus our efforts on the league which is fundamental for us. Especially this year, with this short format, it gives you a very slight margin for error."
Álex knew very well, just like the rest of the team, that "defeats would come at some point. There's no competition in the world where there's a team that doesn't lose any match. We're a third tier team and we lost against a third tier team."
