Seedorf: “Now’s the time to create a future, create a project, to look forward”
Clarence Seedorf stated at the ABANCA-RIAZOR’s press room this afternoon that “now’s the time to create a future, create a project, to look forward. Looking back is useless, we can’t change things. It was a failure (the season). I agree. But it’s pointless to continue being emotional about it.”
For this reason, the Dutch coach said “we have to analyse what happened, why it happened and take the right steps to calmly create a future.”
Regarding tomorrow’s match against Villarreal CF (6:30 pm, Bein LaLiga), he assured “I want to finish the year well. I want them (the players) to play at their best level in this last home game, because this group deserves to finish how they’ve been doing this last month and a half.”
Along these lines, he insisted that “I have to congratulate the group for the effort they’ve made and the level they’ve achieved on the pitch since I’ve arrived. I would like to finish the year like that and for them to remember that. The daily work was impressive. And we will then have time to talk about the future, there’s also a World Cup before that.”
The Deportivista coach awaits “a good atmosphere” at the stadium tomorrow: “I am a positive person. I like to live positive experiences. Football is nice. It’s not a war. Many relegate every year. Dépor just like many others in the league. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. Living this as if it were the only thing in life, whoever lives like that doesn’t understand anything. And I say this respectfully because of the importance football has in many people’s lives. We’re the first to live off football.”
He publicly welcomed the Club's new Sporting Director, Carmelo del Pozo: “I hope he can do significant work to put this Club back where it deserves.”
Asked about his future, Seedorf insisted “you have to ask the Club this question. I cannot invite myself to talk about the future. But it’s also not necessary for me at the moment.”
