This afternoon, Gaizka Garitano emphasized in Abegondo's press room that, Saturday's home match against Leganés (6:30pm, Bein Sports), is "very important for Dépor. We all want Dépor to win. That’s what’s most important”. Therefore, he put his future as a Deportivista coach in second place, although he is aware that “if we beat Leganés, I will continue. I always try to win to continue. My main concern now is for Dépor to slowly climb up and leave this situation behind. What happens to me is not important”.

He stressed he speaks to the Club’s Chairman and Sport Director, Tino Fernández and Richard Barral, on a weekly basis: “They’re private conversations. The Club has always trusted me. And I trust them. We work (whilst we’re all still together), towards the same direction”.

He assured that for tomorrow's game, “I will only be happy if we win. I won’t be happy with a draw. And neither was I last week nor in San Mamés”.

Furthermore, he stated, “I always have a winning mentality. No way do we go out to draw. Then, once that game develops, you see if a draw is good or not. It depends on the circumstances”.

He was self-critical and admitted that, “we have conceded many goals in the last minutes. If you’re looking for an explanation, the coach is to blame. I am the person in charge of the team. If you see that I don’t interpret the game well, and to top it all, we lose in the last minutes; because I’m in charge, I’m sure my interpretation wasn’t very good. I will try to improve”. He then added, “If you always think you do things well, you’ll never improve. I always try to improve and try to be self-critical so that the team improves”.
