One of Deportivo’s captains, Juanfran, revealed in Abegondo's press room this morning, that Pepe Mel gave yesterday’s players in Cornellá El Prat a talk on pitch number 2, just before the training session began: “He was spot on with everything he said. I can relate to everything he said to us":

The Deportivista right-back also stated “the team's with the coach. We can take a step forward. He's very strong, he’s an experienced coach, that’s already been in these kinds of situations. For me, he’s the ideal coach for this team, for this Club. That's what people thought in summer. We're behind him all the way”. He explained “who best to get us out of this than someone who has already experienced these situations, as he already proved when he came five months ago? It’s the same coach that got us out of a messy situation”.

Juanfran said, “our idea doesn’t change in six games. We have faith in the coach, and in what he wants. What we have to do is try and get things to work better so that we finally win and everything calms down”.

He is aware that if Deportivo beat Getafe at the Estadio ABANCA-RIAZOR on Saturday (1 pm, Bein LaLiga) “everything will change, the league table, the team’s spirit. It’s going to be a shot of energy to help us work these two weeks and continue polishing those mistakes that are harming us so much”.

He acknowledged that 4 points out of a possible 18 “is making the start of the league complicated, with really tough moments, harsh defeats. Things don’t go as expected and we have to continue working and trying”.

He emphasized that the team is “fucked, like everyone who loves Deportivo. Us more, because we're professionals and it hurts our pride. It’s tough when things don’t turn out like you want them to”.

Regarding the defeat against Espanyol, Juanfran stated that after the third goal (3-1), the team disconnected: “The team can never, never disconnect. The team always has to be in the game because we represent a very big Club, and we cannot afford to disconnect”.
